Our parish Faith Formation Program is for all children residing in the parishes of The Epiphany and Our Lady of the Scapular/St. Stephen’s or who attend the Chapel of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary and are enrolled in either public or private schools. It is important that these children participate in this program so that they can obtain a formal education in the Catholic faith and also be prepared to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation.
Our program is for grades one through seven.
Children in grades 1-4 meet on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30 – 5:00 pm.
Children in grades 5-7 meet on Sunday mornings from 9:30 – 11:30 am.
Students preparing for the sacrament of Confirmation meet on Sundays from 9:00 – 11:30 am.
All students report to the Parish Hall (located on Second Avenue between 21st and 22nd Streets). All dismissals are from the hall at the end of class.
Tuition for the 2019-2020 school year is $300 per student - due at registration - which
includes the text book, supplies, and additional instructional materials.
There is also a $325 Sacramental Fee - due by November 15 - for children preparing for
First Holy Communion (2nd grade) and Confirmation (7th grade).
Registration for the current year will take place on
Sunday, September 15, from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm in the Parish Hall
or via e-mail to [email protected].
Children who have not been registered by the first day of class will not be admitted to class until registration has been completed.
**Please note:
a BAPTISM CERTIFICATE MUST ACCOMPANY the registration form.
Classes for children in grades 1 – 4 begin on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. Classes for children in grades 5 – 7 begin on Sunday, September 22nd.
Confirmation class for 7th graders begins on Sunday, September 22nd.
All students are to report to the Parish Hall.
We ask parents who have questions about our program and its requirements to call the Faith Formation office at 212-475-1966 ext 1005 or to contact us by e-mail at [email protected].
We expect children attending public or private schools to be enrolled in our Faith Formation Program every year so that they have the opportunity to learn about their faith. Since each year’s curriculum is different, grade levels cannot be skipped. Children who “skip” grades will have their reception of the sacraments delayed. We also expect children to attend Mass every Sunday with their families. Religious education is not just about learning one’s faith. Equally important, and perhaps more important, is living out one’s faith and participating in the worship and sacramental life of the Church. The staff of our Faith Formation Program looks forward to working together with our parents in the faith formation of our children.
